How much overlap should I use?

10–20 mm works for most posters. More overlap makes alignment forgiving and hides trimming slips; less saves a little paper. Use 0 mm only if you intend to butt-join sheets without trimming.

Will the tiles print at the right size?

Yes — each tile is scaled so its share of the source page fills the printable area of your chosen paper size. Print at Actual Size or 100% scale; any fit-to-page option in your printer dialog would shrink the tiles and break the grid.

Does it work on multi-page PDFs?

Every page is tiled independently, so a 3-page PDF with a 2×2 grid produces 12 sheets. For a single poster page, split or extract that page first.

What are crop marks for?

They are hairline corner marks showing where each tile's trim edge falls on the sheet. Cut along them, then overlap the repeated strips to hide the seams.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser — the PDF never leaves your device.

Can I print on paper larger than A4?

Choose A3 or enter a custom sheet size in millimetres. Larger sheets mean fewer tiles to assemble.

Print a poster-sized PDF on ordinary paper

One big page, many small sheets

Posterize PDF is the inverse of n-up printing: instead of shrinking many pages onto one sheet, it splits one large page across many sheets. A poster designed at A0, a map exported at 36 inches wide, or architectural artwork becomes a grid of A4 or Letter pages you can print on any home or office printer and tape back together.

Each output sheet carries one tile of the original page, scaled so the tile fills the printable area. Because the tool embeds the original vector page rather than re-rendering it, text and line art stay sharp at any zoom — you are cutting the page, not photographing it.

Overlap and crop marks make assembly painless

Every interior tile repeats a strip of its neighbours — the overlap. Ten to twenty millimetres is the sweet spot: enough to align sheets by eye and hide small trimming errors, not so much that you waste paper. Set it to zero only if you plan to butt-join sheets with no trimming at all.

Turn on crop marks and each sheet gets hairline corner marks showing exactly where the tile edge falls. Trim to the marks, overlap the repeated strips, and the seams disappear. A small sheet margin keeps the marks and the tile edge inside your printer's printable area.

Tile grid

Pick 1–6 columns and 1–6 rows. The preview shows the grid over your first page and the resulting tile size in millimetres.

Paper size

A4, Letter, A3, or a custom sheet size in millimetres, with portrait, landscape, or auto orientation that follows your page.

Overlap and crop marks

A 0–30 mm overlap strip on shared edges plus optional corner crop marks for trimming and alignment.

Private by construction

The whole job runs in your browser with pdf-lib: the file is never uploaded, so a confidential site plan or an unreleased poster stays on your machine. There is no page-count or file-size tier gate — the limit is your printer, not the tool.
