Does the text stay selectable and searchable?

Yes. The tool rewrites only the color instructions inside each text block — the glyphs, fonts and text objects are untouched, so copying, searching and screen readers all keep working.

Can I change only one color, like the blue headings?

Yes. Choose 'Only text matching a color', pick the source shade, and only text drawn in that color is rewritten. RGB, grayscale and CMYK color settings are all matched.

Will it recolor text in a scanned PDF?

No. A scan is an image — there are no text color operators to rewrite. Use an image-level tool like Adjust Colors or Invert Colors for scanned pages.

What about colored images or graphics?

They are left alone. Only color operators inside text blocks (between BT and ET) are rewritten, plus the inherited color a text block picks up from just before it.

My PDF is password-protected. Can I recolor it?

You can preview it after unlocking, but an encrypted file can't be edited in place. Run it through the Unprotect PDF tool first, then recolor the result.

Can I check the result before downloading?

PDF text color lives in the page's content stream: each text block sets a fill color with an operator like rg before drawing its glyphs. This tool rewrites those operators — inside text blocks only — so the words change color while fonts, sizes, spacing, images and vector graphics stay exactly as they were.

Because the text itself is never re-rendered, the result is still a real text PDF: searchable, selectable, and accessible to screen readers. When to Use It — and When Not To

Use it for legibility fixes (light-gray body text to black), brand updates (old accent color to the new one), and print prep (colored text flattened to a single ink). It works on any PDF whose text is stored as text — which is most PDFs exported from Word, InDesign, LaTeX or a browser.

It will not recolor text that was flattened into an image — a scanned page or a screenshot has no text operators to rewrite. For those, an image-level tool like Adjust Colors or Invert Colors is the right job. Encrypted PDFs need unlocking first, since the content stream can't be edited while the file is protected.
