How the Diagnosis Works
Something is wrong with the file and the error message says nothing useful. The tool classifies the PDF first: does it have a text layer, is that layer real text or the gibberish of a failed OCR pass, are any pages past the size a reader accepts. Then it weighs the file itself, because a 40-page document at 80 MB is telling you its pictures are the problem.

The Problems It Names
Seven findings cover the ways a PDF actually breaks in practice.
No Text Layer
Every page is a picture of text. Nothing selects, nothing searches. OCR reads the pictures and adds the missing layer.
Gibberish Text
The layer exists but decodes into nonsense, usually a failed earlier OCR pass. Fresh OCR replaces the whole thing.
Oversized Pages
Pages past the 200-inch ceiling open truncated or not at all. The fixer slices them into normal pages at full size.
Image Bloat
A megabyte a page means pictures are doing the heavy lifting. Compression shrinks pictures fast.
Each Finding Carries Its Fix
A diagnosis without a next step is a dead end. Missing text points at OCR. Oversized pages point at the page fixer. Bloat points at compression. A locked file points at unlocking, and a file that will not open at all points at repair. The healthy case says so plainly and stops, rather than inventing work.
The handoff matters as much as the mapping. Opening a fixer from a finding carries the file along, with its unlocked password where one was needed, so the fix starts on the document you already loaded instead of asking for it twice.
How It Compares
Readers report symptoms. Validators report codes. This names the problem and hands you the fix in the same breath.

Your Document Stays Yours
