How PSD to PDF Conversion Works

A PSD is a working file: layers, masks, adjustment stacks, smart objects. Anyone without Photoshop sees an icon they cannot open. This tool reads the file's flattened composite — the finished image Photoshop itself renders — and places it on a PDF page. Combine several PSDs into one document and reorder them before converting.

Why Convert PSD to PDF

PSD is for making the work. PDF is for showing it.

Flattened Composite — Layers Are Not Preserved

The output shows each file exactly as it looks when flattened: every visible layer, mask, and adjustment baked into a single image. Layers, smart objects, and editability do not carry over — a PDF cannot represent them. If you need the editable file, send the PSD itself.

One caveat: the composite is only present when the PSD was saved with Maximize Compatibility (the Photoshop default). Files saved without it have no flattened image to read, and the tool will tell you to re-save the file rather than guess at a render.

Page Size and Ordering

Fit to image keeps each page at the artwork's pixel dimensions. A4 and Letter scale the composite to fit inside a standard sheet with a configurable margin, and orientation can follow each image or be forced to portrait or landscape.

With multiple files, drag the thumbnails to set page order — or use the on-screen arrows on touch devices. File one becomes page one.
