A real page, not just a sidebar

PDF bookmarks live in a side panel that many readers hide by default — and they vanish entirely when the document is printed. A table of contents page is different: it is part of the document itself, visible on paper and on screen, and it can still be clickable.

This tool inserts one or more styled TOC pages into your PDF. Entries come from the document's existing bookmarks, from headings detected in the text, or from a plain page list you edit by hand — so it works whether the file already has structure or none at all.

Clickable on screen, readable on paper

With clickable links enabled, every row carries an invisible link annotation that jumps to its page — the same /GoTo mechanism Acrobat uses. The printed page numbers stay correct too: the tool offsets every destination and label by the number of TOC pages it inserts, so 'page 34' still means page 34.

Turn on back-links and each target page gets a small return anchor in the corner that jumps back to the contents — handy for manuals and reports people dip into rather than read straight through.

Where the page lands

By default the TOC goes at the very front. Set 'insert before page' to 2 and it lands after a cover page — the position annual reports and theses usually want. Everything is computed locally; the file never leaves your browser.
