How Grayscale Conversion Works
The tool renders each page of your PDF, converts every pixel to gray using luminance weighting, and rebuilds the pages into a new PDF whose images are declared DeviceGray, so print software sees a grayscale file rather than a color one. Black & white mode goes further and keeps only black and white, one bit per pixel.
