About Split PDF

How PDF Splitting Works

One PDF goes in, several come out. The tool reads your document, groups pages however you tell it to, and writes each group as a separate file. More than one output? They get bundled into a ZIP.

OxygenPDF runs the whole thing in your browser. Pick a file, tell it where to cut, and the split PDFs download straight to your device. No account needed, nothing uploaded.

When You’d Reach for a PDF Splitter

Nobody splits PDFs for fun. There’s usually a deadline, a file-size limit, or somebody asking for page 47 out of a 200-page report.

Filing & Compliance

Courts, HR departments, and government portals want specific pages, not your entire 80-page file. Extract the relevant section and submit that.

Email Attachments

Most email providers cap attachments at 25 MB. Split by file size so each piece fits without compressing or downgrading quality.

Chapter Extraction

Pull a single chapter out of a textbook or technical manual. Type the page range, get a standalone file.

Invoice Processing

Vendors sometimes pack a whole month of invoices into one PDF. Split them into individual files for your accounting software or expense tracker.

Three Ways to Split

Range mode takes page ranges like “1–5, 8, 10–15” and turns each one into its own file. There’s also a fixed-interval option: split every N pages, so a 30-page document at intervals of 10 produces three files without you doing the math.

Pages mode is more direct. Extract every page as its own PDF, or click the specific pages you want in the thumbnail grid and pull them into one file. If you need exactly pages 3, 7, and 12, this is the mode.

Size mode takes a different angle. You set a maximum file size in KB or MB, and the tool figures out where to break based on average page weight. Handy when the real constraint is an email attachment cap or an upload form with a size limit.

How It Compares

Every PDF tool can split. The differences come down to how many splitting methods you get and whether your files leave your machine.

Your Files Stay on Your Device

The documents people split tend to be the ones they’d rather not put on someone else’s server. Contracts, medical records, tax filings. Most online PDF splitters upload your file for server-side processing. Even with deletion promises, your content passes through infrastructure you don’t control.

OxygenPDF processes the split in your browser. Nothing gets uploaded. Close the tab and the data is gone. If GDPR, HIPAA, or an NDA restricts how you handle document contents, not uploading anything is the simplest way to stay compliant.
