From Reflowable E-Book to Fixed Pages

EPUB is a reflowable format: the text has no fixed page size, so an e-reader reshapes it to whatever screen it lands on. That is great for reading and useless for printing, archiving, or sending to someone who does not own an e-reader. This tool unpacks the EPUB container — a ZIP archive of XHTML chapter files, an OPF manifest that declares the reading order, stylesheets and images — walks the spine chapter by chapter, and typesets the result onto fixed A4 or Letter pages.

The output reads like a book, not a printout of a web page. Body text is set in a serif face, every chapter starts on a fresh page under its own heading, blockquotes and verse keep their indentation, images are embedded at print resolution, and each page carries a centered page number. A title page with the book's title, author and cover image leads the document when the EPUB provides them.

When a PDF Beats an E-Book

Print a book you own but cannot get in print, proofread a manuscript on paper, archive a digital library in a format that will still open in thirty years, or share a chapter with someone whose device only understands PDF. PDF is also the format print shops, annotation tools and document archives are built around.

One honest limitation: DRM-protected EPUBs cannot be converted. The encryption exists to prevent exactly this, and the tool will tell you so instead of producing a scrambled file. Remove the DRM with your e-book manager (for books you are entitled to) and convert the DRM-free copy.
