About Metadata Editor
What PDF Metadata Contains
Every PDF carries metadata fields: title, author, subject, keywords, producer, and creator. These are embedded in the document and visible in any PDF viewer’s properties panel. They also show up in search engine results and file explorers.
OxygenPDF reads these fields from your PDF and lets you edit them. Change the title, update the author, add keywords, clear the producer tag. The modified PDF downloads with the new metadata. Everything happens in your browser.
Why Metadata Matters
Metadata is invisible in the document view but visible everywhere else — file properties, search results, document management systems.
Search & Discoverability
Title and keywords affect how PDFs appear in search results. Clean metadata helps people find the right document.
Privacy Cleanup
Producer and creator fields reveal which software made the PDF. Author fields may contain names you’d rather not share. Edit or clear them.
Document Management
DMS platforms use metadata to categorize and retrieve documents. Correct metadata means correct filing.
Publishing Prep
PDFs destined for publication should have proper titles and author names. Metadata shows up in browser tabs and PDF readers’ title bars.
Six Editable Fields
The editor shows all six standard fields side by side: title, author, subject, keywords (comma-separated), producer, and creator. The original values load automatically when you open a file. Changed fields are highlighted so you can see what’s been modified.
The tool tracks modifications and only saves when you’ve actually changed something. The output is a new PDF with updated metadata — the original file is never altered.
How It Compares
Metadata editing is a basic feature, but many tools hide it or charge for it.

Where Your Files Go: Nowhere
Metadata often contains information you want to control: author names, software used, internal document titles. Uploading a PDF just to edit a title field hands that information to a third party.
OxygenPDF reads and writes metadata in your browser. The file never leaves your machine.
