Why does A4 show as 595.28 × 841.89?

PDF measures pages in points — 72 per inch. A4 is 210 × 297 mm, which converts to 595.28 × 841.89 pt. Switch the unit selector to mm or cm to see the familiar numbers.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Yes. Enter the password when prompted. Processing happens locally.

What is in the JSON report?

One entry per page with page number, width, height, unit, orientation, and matched paper size, plus the file name and page count.

How Page Size Inspection Works

PDFs can hide pages of different sizes inside one document. A scanned letter page next to an A4 page next to something oddly sized. Page Size Inspector lists every page with its exact dimensions, so nothing hides.

Points, Inches, Millimeters — Pick the Unit You Think In

PDF stores page geometry in points: 72 to the inch, which is why A4 reads as 595.28 × 841.89 instead of the 210 × 297 mm everyone recognizes. The unit switcher exists because the right unit depends on the job. Print shops quote millimeters, US offices think in inches, and anyone debugging a generator wants the raw points.

Orientation is reported from the rendered shape, not the file metadata, so a landscape A4 shows as landscape even when the document was rotated rather than reshaped. The distinction matters when you are matching a printer tray or an archival spec that names both dimensions and orientation.
